Selected Cases

False Accusations of Rape - The office represented plaintiffs in defamation lawsuits against a defendant who posted on Facebook accusing them of rape. Furthermore, the defendant reiterated these accusations in media interviews. The court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, and the defendant was ordered to pay the office’s clients a total of nis114,570.

Representation of an Extra-parliamentary Movement Against a Newspaper - the office represented a non-party political organization and its spokesperson in a defamation lawsuit against one of the most popular daily newspapers in Israel and its political commentator. The Magistrate’s Court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs and ordered the defendants to pay them nis125,000. The office continued to represent them in an appeal filed by the defendants to the District Court, which was dismissed.

Identification of Those Responsible for Disseminating Defamatory Advertisements from Fictitious Profiles - the office represented a client in a lawsuit against an individual who spread false advertisements and baseless accusations of rape and sexual assault against young girls on Facebook. The defendant distributed the defamatory advertisements through fictitious. Thanks to a request filed by the office, and despite the defendant’s opposition, the court ordered Facebook to provide identifying information about the fictitious accounts. The information obtained as a result of the order proved that the defendant was the one who carried out the advertisements.

Accepting an Appeal and Canceling a Defamation Defendant’s Charge - the firm represented a client in a defamation lawsuit that was partially accepted against him in the Magistrate’s Court, alleging that he defamed a colleague at a workers’ committee meeting. The firm appealed the verdict to the District Court in Lod, where the compensation awarded in the previous court was annulled, in such a way that the plaintiff was required to return to the client the full amount of money he had paid and in addition ordered her to pay him expenses in the amount of NIS 15,000.

Representation of Plaintiff in Defamation Lawsuit (and Counterclaimed) - The plaintiff represented by the office filed a lawsuit for monetary compensation and an injunction prohibiting future publications against three women – two of whom accused him of rape, and one disseminated and shared the allegations on social networks. The lawsuit was partially successful: one of the defendants was ordered to compensate the client with nis5000, and additionally, a restraining order was issued prohibiting further publication of the allegations against the client. The counterclaim against the client was dismissed.

Representation of Plaintiff in Defamation Lawsuit Against Facebook Operator and Well-Known Media Channel - The client was falsely accused of being a “convicted pedophile” and “convicted of the worst crimes” in a news article published in violation of a previous injunction against publication. The article was published without seeking a response from the plaintiff and was based on false publications on the Facebook page whose deletion was required by virtue of two rulings. META was sued for defamatory publications, which it refused to remove. The lawsuit is ongoing in the Petah Tikva Magistrate’s Court.
