About Prof. Chaim Yosefy
Prof. Chaim Yosefy, one of Israel’s senior cardiologists, and a full professor in the Ben Gurion University, serves as head of the Cardiology Department of the Barzilai Medical Center, in the campus of the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon. Prof. Yosefy is a cardiology specialist with a particular subspeciality in echocardiography. In addition, he has fellowships in internal medicine and in hypertension, of the ESH.
Prof. Yosefy served as chairman of the Epidemiology and Cardiovascular prevention in the Israeli Cardiology Association (elected official 2010-2013) and during his term he was responsible for authoring four position papers and the guidelines of the Israeli Cardiology Association.
He is a member of the Israeli Cardiology Association, the Israel Medical Association, the Civil-Service Doctors, the Israeli Society of Hypertension, the Israeli Society for the Research, Prevention and Treatment of Atherosclerosis, and is a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology.
Prof. Yosefy leads the global field of 3D Echocardiography for diagnosing heart diseases. He is the instructor and lecturer of courses on both of these topics in Israel and abroad, for an audience of general cardiologists and echocardiography specialists, and conducts vast academic activities in the hospital and in the national and international fronts. Prof. Yosefy serves as a reviewer of scientific articles in ten leading international journals.
His research gained him an international reputation as cardiologist who specializes in the prevention of heart disease and in 3D Echocardiography. Over the past few years, Prof. Yosefy has been included repeatedly in the “120 Best Doctors” list of the prestigious magazine Forbes. This selection was made by his colleagues and represents professional excellence alongside with human compassion, patience and the extraordinary attitude that he extends to his patients.
Formerly, Prof. Yosefy served as V. Manager of the Emergency Medicine Department of the Barzilai Medical Center, in Ashkelon, as a senior cardiologist in the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon and as a senior advisor and coordinator of the hypertensions, lipids and cardiology field in the Western Negev district of “Clalit Healthcare”.
In addition, Prof. Yosefy served as head of the noninvasive cardiology unit of the Barzilai Medical Center, in Ashkelon, and as a senior advisor in echocardiography of “Assuta – Medical Center” in Ashdod and Ashkelon. Since 2017, he has been serving as Head of Cardiology of the Barzilai Medical Center, in Ashkelon. In addition, since 2013, he has been a full professor in cardiology and member of the Governing Committee for the Appointment of Professors in the Ben Gurion University.
In 2003-2004, Prof. Yosefy undertook a subspeciality fellowship in Echocardiography and noninvasive cardiology in the medical center Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University in Boston. He won numerous awards, including honor student, and was the selected to be an elective in Pennsylvania in the Good Samaritan Hospital. In 1988, Prof. Yosefy was decorated with the Ministry of Health Community Volunteering Award for Israel’s 40th Anniversary and in 1989 he was awarded with the Graduate Community Service Excellence award of the Medicine Faculty of Ben Gurion University. In 1994 he won an award by the Israeli Society of Hypertension for Distinct Dissertation in the field of the risk of the descendants of heart patients, and in 2003 he received a MERK scholarship for a fellowship in the U.S. In 2009, he was selected as Exceptional Doctor of the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.
In addition, Prof. Yosefy won the Outstanding Work award in a presentation in the second research convention in Assuta, Maccabi, Tel Aviv. In 2016, Prof. Yosefy was awarded with the prestigious Meltzer Award for a special contribution to cardiology in Israel, in the annual convention of the Cardiology Association.
Prof. Yosefy regularly publishes scientific articles in international science journals, including world-leading journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, JACC and Circulation. Prof. Yosefy has published more than 90 scientific articles in international scientific journals.
Prof. Yosefy authored and edited the world-leading book for studying 3D Echography - Principles of Practical Three-Dimensional Echocardiography.
