About Prof. Debi Ronen
Prof. Debi Ronen is a seasoned orthopedic surgeon who is considered one of the leading experts in joint replacement surgeries in Israel and globally. Prof. Debi performs customized joint replacement surgeries, anterior hip joint replacement surgeries, and robotic and kinematically aligned knee replacement surgeries.
All of these surgeries are performed in medical centers across Israel: Herzliya Medical Center, Assuta Ramat HaHayal, Assuta Rishon LeZion, Raphael Atidim, and Barzilai-Ashkelon. Forbes Magazine has selected him as one of “Israel’s Best Doctors” for five consecutive years, and Dun and Bradstreet have chosen him again for the current year.

Prof. Debi is highly reputed for his professionalism, expertise, and capability to match the precise procedure for every patient, as well as for his attention, compassion for his patients, and reliability. Managed the Orthopedic Division of Barzilai for more than a Decade and Turned it into a Leading Facility
Prof. Debi managed the orthopedic division of Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon for more than 10 years, during which he performed thousands of joint replacement surgeries with great success. Under his leadership, Barzilai’s orthopedic division became iconic in the Israeli orthopedic field, and to this very day, it sets the standard for orthopedic divisions across Israel.
In light of his professional work and pleasant mannerisms, he won the hospital’s “Outstanding Manager” award and also a certificate of excellence from the Civil Service Commission. Prof. Debi started his medical career in the Faculty of Medicine of Tel Aviv University and afterwards underwent a fellowship in joint replacement surgery in Sydney, Australia. Upon returning to Israel, he worked as an expert in the Assaf HaRofeh Hospital, learning and deepening his expertise under Prof. Halperin. He was appointed at a relatively young age to direct the orthopedic division of Barzilai Hospital, while continuing his work as a physician, surgeon and mentor who teaches and instructs interns and students. During his years in Barzilai, he was responsible for bringing an innovative radiolucent operating table to this orthopedic division that enables anterior hip joint replacement surgeries. This table was later purchased also by other public and private hospitals across Israel.
Training and Teaching Israeli Next Generation of Orthopedists
Beyond his clinical hospital experience and extensive surgery skills, Prof. Debi has a vision for training the next generation of Israel’s doctors and orthopedists. He was the coordinator of the course “Orthopedics for Physiotherapists” at Ben Gurion University and the “Orthopedics” course at the Academic College of Ashkelon’s nursing faculty. Prof. Debi is one of the authors and examiners of the orthopedics certification exam. and served for years as chairperson of the National Osteoarthritis Convention, chairperson of the Advanced Knee and Hip Joint Surgery Course in the Barzilai Hospital, and chairperson of the Internet course on osteoarthritis. He is a member of the Authors Committee for the Orthopedics Board certification. Prof. Debi is a lecturer and a clinical instructor in the Orthopedic and Physiotherapy Department of Ben Gurion University. He serves as chairperson of the Education Committee of the Israel Orthopedics Association.
Educating the Next Generation of Orthopedists in Israel
Prof. Debi continues to educate the next generation of orthopedists in Israel through mentoring and training orthopedists, nurses, and physiotherapists. He lectures in conventions, trainings, and courses on joint replacement surgeries (hip joint replacement, anterior hip joint replacement surgeries, knee replacement, kinematically aligned and robotic arthroplasties), to doctors and colleagues in Israel and globally. In some of the courses, he even performed real-time demonstrations of arthroplasty via CCTV. Prof. Debi continues to work with his characteristic great vibrancy, compassion, and professionalism, providing treatments, guidance, counsel and, where required, PRP injections. When necessary- he performs arthroplasties and provides a professional and caring treatment framework to rehabilitate his patients and enable them to return to a high quality of life.
