About Attorney Ran Cohen Rochverger
A criminal investigation, and, God forbid, criminal prosecution shakes a man’s life and biding an optimal professional response in order to handle the sharp risks of the procedures and their results. Escorting and representing normative people who are investigated for the first time in their lives on suspicion of committing a criminal offence, obligate a special understanding and distinct sensitivity at the different crossroads of the criminal procedure. There is a great deal of importance in establishing the legal strategy to the whole process as soon as possible because it will decide the fate of the case. It is very important to receive correct professional consultation and reliable and decisive representation. Our office deals with representation of suspects and defendants who are normative and without criminal record and avoids in principle representing “professional” criminals. Our office is unique in handling cases in the fields of military and security law and white collar.
Military and Security Law
The judicial system in the IDF is significantly different than the civil one. The Military Jurisdiction law establishes a special law for those who serve in the army, establishes unique military offences and special procedures for sitting in front of military courts. Among the special military offences, are removal of property out of military authority, exceeding authority, inappropriate behavior, and desertion and absence from service without permission. A special expertise is required in representing military, police, Israel prison service and security forces personnel in criminal felonies and disciplinary offenses. Our office escorts and consults in complex investigations by the criminal investigation division, appearing in arrest hearings in front of military courts, holding hearings and negotiating opposite the military prosecution, representing after serving indictment in military courts, representation in military committees and administrative and disciplinary procedures. Our firm represents clients in claims against the Ministry of Defense on behalf of individuals who became ill or were injured during military service or as a result of acts of hostility, as well as in applications for recognition as fallen soldiers of Israel’s defense forces.
White Collar Cases
As is well known, all suspects and defendants in white collar offences are totally normative people who stumble for the first time in the criminal world. Often, it is about freelancers and professionals and the offence attributed to them is usually in the field of finance (embezzlement, bribe) or an expression of abuse of authority (falsification, false registration). Therefore, it is the enormous importance of close, professional escort of the defendant, from the earliest stage, to provide the best defense while establishing the legal strategy for the whole process. The professional escort in these cases also requires proficiency in Substantive Law, in legal practices and the ability to conduct a correct discourse with the relevant authorities. Our office escorts in thorough preparation prior to investigation, in consultation during complex investigations, in appearing and representing in arrest hearings, in representation in hearing in front of the attorney’s office, in representation in the trial’s proceedings, in filing appeals and appearing in them and handling administrative procedures accompanying the criminal proceedings.
Administrative Law
Not once, a person might find himself dealing with frustration against a public body or an administrative authority in relation to harm done to him, or a prevention of a right from him. Sometimes this front is a result of enforced things, and sometimes it stems of his wish to initiate a move opposite the authority to receive a response, to remove a fault, or to get a permission, license or any other right. In those cases, where unlawful use of governmental authority or power is done – in arbitrariness, in a disproportionate manner or without proper exercise of discretion – it is of great importance in professional representation of applicant before the authorities and bodies, subject to administrative law, and in the competent judicial courts for best escort of the administrative dispute. In addition, the office represents officials in the public administration against whom petitions were filed, such as soldiers, policemen and public servants.
