About Backslash Security

Israeli startup Backslash Security aims to create a safe environment for organizations to accelerate their adoption of “vibe coding” and AI-native software development. The company’s solution provides visibility, control, and protection over the development environment and the code it produces, powering development agility and encouraging safe use of AI tools.

Backslash was founded in 2022 by Shahar Man (CEO) and Yossi Pik (CTO) as co-founders. Shahar has extensive experience in cloud security — he was the first VP of R&D at unicorn Aqua Security. Before that, he worked for many years as a development group manager at SAP. Yossi met Shahar at SAP, where he managed his own development group. After leaving SAP, Yossi founded the agritech startup Farmigo, which he later sold to GrubMarket. Together, they decided to found a new startup in the cybersecurity space.

Securing the New World of Vibe Coding

Over the past two years, AI-based code development tools have taken the world of software development by storm, reaching maturity and broad adoption. Since the beginning of 2025, they’ve evolved into “Vibe Coding,” a new approach of AI-prompt-driven coding. While in the not-so-distant past AI merely helped developers to improve existing code, today these tools can generate complete applications in any programming language, following simple natural-language instructions, not just for non-developers but also for experienced, enterprise software development teams. This fundamentally changes software development — accelerating workflows and enabling rapid code adaptations.

Applications that once required days or weeks of development work can now be initiated in minutes. Developers can even manage several AI agents simultaneously, each performing its own task, effectively turning the single developer into an AI dev team manager. This dramatically accelerates development, but the environment has become less secure. Some companies have even restricted or banned the use of such tools until they can ensure security best practices.

This is where Backslash comes in, enabling organizations to safely adopt and manage AI coding with optimal security, minimizing vulnerabilities and risks. The company’s uniqueness lies in its focus — contextually securing both the development environment and the coding itself. Development environment security includes protecting external developer interfaces, such as pulling documentation from external sources that could expose the company to higher risk and importing them safely into the internal environment. At the same time, unlike the common approach where security teams handle code security only after it is written, Backslash secures AI-generated code starting from the prompt stage — the very instructions given to the AI tool on how to develop the application.

A Fast Growing Company

Currently, Backslash is in its seed stage and employs 20 people. Its headquarters are located in the Sarona area of Tel Aviv. The company is growing rapidly with an expanding customer base that includes enterprise clients in various sectors — such as SaaS, retail, fintech, healthcare. Among its clients are Entrata, Chipotle, monday.com, and CapitalRX.

Due to its strong growth momentum, the company is constantly looking to hire for positions across engineering, research, product management, marketing, and sales.
