Dr. Ofer Sachs

Dr. Ofer Sacks is a senior physician and an orthopedic surgeon, specializing in treating knee and sports injuries. He is the director of the knee and sports unit of the ortho-pedic department of Laniado Hospital in Netanya, and manages a successful private clinic in his field of specialty. Dr. Sachs is also a popular lecturer in the field of orthope-dics and lectures in the Faculty of Medicine of Ariel University. Among other achievements, he is a two-time recipient of the Ben-Gurion University Outstanding Lecturer Award, and formerly served as a lecturer in the Wingate College in the field of Orthopedics and authored the book “Foundations of Medicine and Anatomy” which is used by medi-cine and nursing students.

Prestigious Fellowship with One of the World’s Leading Knee Surgeons

Dr. Sachs started his professional career, following his graduation from the Faculty of Medicine of Ben Gurion University, with a residency in orthopedic surgery in the ortho-pedic department of Rambam Hospital in Haifa, followed by a fellowship in knee and sports surgery in Fortius Clinic and Cromwell Hospital in London under Dr. Andy Wil-liams, one of the world’s leading knee surgeons. During his fellowship, Dr. Sachs participated in the treatment and surgeries of numerous top athletes – Premier League football players, rugby and tennis players and more. Upon completing his fellowship, he returned to Israel and was appointed as a senior physician in the knee and sports department of Rambam Hospital in Haifa. When the new orthopedic department of Laniado Hospital was established in 2019, Dr. Sachs was appointed as director of its knee and sports unit.

Reserves Service as a Military Doctor in an Elite Unit; Orthopedic Support and Counsel to Football and Basketball Teams

Dr. Sachs served in the IDF as a combatant and commander of an elite unit, and in his reserves service he continues to serve as a doctor in this unit. His familiarity with the procedures for managing IDF injuries led him to establish, in 2014, a combat units infirmary specializing in rapid diagnosis, treatment and surgery for combatants. In 2013-2017, Dr. Sachs was the physician of the Maccabi Haifa basketball team and he has been serving as a physician for the basketball teams of Netanya since 2012. In the framework of this role, he is the orthopedic consultant of the players of Maccabi Haifa’s youth and adult teams, and he also serves as the orthopedic consultant of numerous basketball and football teams from the Sharon Region, as well as teams of running, athletics, martial arts and gymnastics.

Over the years, Dr. Sachs accumulated vast experience in handling sports injuries, surgeries and treatments of complex knee injuries. He brings this experience to his private clinic, which offers a variety of treatment options, including: Knee trauma treatments, soft tissue injuries such as ACL, meniscus injuries, ligament injuries, local cartilage inju-ries, advanced osteoarthritis, patellar (kneecap) instability, fractures around the knee bones involving the joint, sports injuries, lasting strain on muscles, joints, ligaments, fractures, ligament tears, muscle tears, knee arthroscopy, knee joint aspiration, ligament reconstructions and partial and full knee replacement and more.

Associations and Training

Dr. Sachs is a member of the Israel Society of Knee Surgery, Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy, Esska – the European Society of Traumatology, Sports Injuries and Arthroscopy, and the Israel Medical Association. He also serves as the chairperson of the “Heart to Heart” association. Over the years, he completed several professional trainings – The basic and advanced AO courses for treating fractures, basic and advanced arthroscopy courses of Esska and ultrasound-guided injection seminars.
