About Guy Ophir Law Offices

Guy Ophir Law Firm is the leading firm in Israel specializing in Internet law, and also practices in defamation, copyright, intellectual property, privacy protection, labor law, and trademarks. The firm, which operates a thorough and focused team, specializes in technological law in both print and digital media.
The firm’s clients include multinational corporations, large companies, and small businesses. The firm has a rich record of legal successes, including numerous victories and achievements against Google, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Additionally, the firm is responsible for many legal precedents in the field of Internet and digital law. For instance, a legal proceeding initiated by the firm led to an agreement in which Facebook committed to providing an email address for Israelis to contact them and serve legal documents. Israel is the only country in the world where its citizens have the option to contact Facebook and serve legal documents via email. This is unprecedented worldwide.
In another case, the firm won a legal proceeding against Amazon, which reached the Supreme Court, where it was determined that Amazon would be tried in Israel rather than in the United States as they had demanded. The firm also has impressive achievements against other multinational corporations, and its clients include organizations, municipalities, businesses, journalists, public figures, celebrities, and more.
The firm operates by managing and promoting an optimal strategy for the benefit of the client, including the use and promotion of communication and media channels to improve public opinion and create positive resonance around the relevant client, serving their business and legal objectives.

Areas of Expertise

Internet Law
Guy Ophir Law Firm represents its clients in cases in the field of Internet law, including Internet copyright, Internet privacy protection, accessibility, spam, NFTs, Artificial Intelligence (AI), metaverse, and Internet defamation. Among other things, it handles media claims against Israeli and international Internet companies, including claims against Google, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and more. The firm’s rich record has led to groundbreaking legal precedents in the field of Internet law and improved service to citizens. The firm won a precedent-setting lawsuit against Facebook, which was required to restore the “Statuses Metzaytzim” page.

Commercial Law
The firm’s team includes commercial lawyers specializing in commercial law, corporate law, contract law, and trade agreements. They handle a wide range of issues, including founders’ agreements, investment agreements, confidentiality agreements, partnership agreements, company investment agreements, establishment of limited liability companies, company liquidations, mergers and acquisitions, minority oppression, officer liability, bills of lading, legal advice to companies, convening board meetings, convening shareholder meetings, etc.

Intellectual Property
The firm’s team manages numerous cases in intellectual property matters, in digital, Internet, and tangible worlds. The firm represents both plaintiffs and defendants, and provides pre-litigation legal advice. The firm has won a series of high-profile intellectual property lawsuits, including against Al Jazeera Channel and Google. The firm also provides legal advice on trademark protection, designs, and copyrights, including open source licenses and the implementation of open source in closed code of technology companies.

Defamation
The firm’s team handles legal proceedings in the field of defamation with both large Israeli media corporations and multinational media and Internet corporations, such as defamation on Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Amazon, and more. Among other things, the firm achieved a victory against Google in the Rosenthal v. Google defamation lawsuit, where Google amended its auto-complete mechanism and compensated the firm’s client for an offensive auto-completion in the search of his name. The firm achieved a precedent-setting accomplishment, which was also affirmed by the Supreme Court, where it was ruled that HaTzal (Yoav Eliasi) “incited” the publication of defamation. This is essentially a precedent-setting ruling by the Supreme Court which determined that liability can be imposed on a person who did not publish defamation themselves, but incited others to do so. The firm also represents its clients in defamation and privacy infringement cases in disputes between private individuals.
