About Prof. Ariel Finkelstein
Prof. Ariel Finkelstein is one of Israel’s top interventional cardiologists, and one of the world’s leading experts in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
Prof. Finkelstein started his professional career as a medical student in Ben Gurion University, and following his graduation, he completed a residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiologyat the Tel Aviv Medical Center (Ichilov).
Shortly after that, he continued to his fellowship in interventional cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and UCLA school of Medicine in L.A., California.
Upon his return to Israel, he joined the division of cardiology at the Tel Aviv Medical Center, and in 2005 he was appointed as the director of the cardiac catheterization.
Prof. Finkelstein served for 4 years as chairperson of the Israeli working group of Interventional Cardiology, and he serves as a member and chairperson of numerous professional committees which outlined the policies for interventional cardiology in Israel and globally.
When transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) technology emerged, Prof. Finkelstein was among the first physicians to perform the procedure.
Since 2010, he serves as a proctor and teaches interventional cardiologists all over the world trans catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
Prof. Finkelstein expertise is diagnostic and interventional catheterizations in coronary arteries, as well as TAVI procedures.
He performs these procedures at Assuta Medical Center, Tel Aviv, as well as at Herzliya Medical Center (HMC).
To date, Prof. Finkelstein has performed more than 3,000 transcatheter aortic valve implantations, in addition to many thousands of coronary artery interventions.
Prof. Finkelstein is a professor of Cardiology at Tel Aviv University. He is a co-author of more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, and he is a distinguished lecturer in numerous international conferences.
Prof. Finkelstein in married to Anat Finkelstein, a pediatrician, and they have 5 children and 5 grandchildren.
In his leisure time, Prof. Finkelstein is a hobbyist carpenter, and a long-distance runner.
