About Prof. Biton Yitschak
Prof. Yitschak Biton is one of Israel’s foremost experts in cardiology and arrhythmia, with an international reputation for excellence, and serves as the Head of the Cardiology Inpatient Unit at the Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center. As part of his clinical work, Prof. Biton specializes in a broad range of electrophysiology aspects, including arrhythmia management, complex ablations (atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter), ventricular arrhythmias, WPW syndrome, SVT, defibrillator therapy, pacemakers, CRTD, and the treatment of genetic arrhythmia disorders such as long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, HOCM, and ARVC.
Over the years, he has received numerous prestigious awards, both in Israel and internationally, in recognition of his exceptional achievements in his fields of expertise.
Education and Advanced Clinical Experience
Prof. Biton graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Sheba Hospital, earning recognition as an outstanding lecturer at the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Medicine. During his fellowship, he was awarded the Mirowski Moss Career Development Award from the University of Rochester, NY, a prestigious honor for promising cardiologists and arrhythmia specialists worldwide.
He expanded his expertise in New York, focusing on complex arrhythmias in genetic disorders and heart failure, earning the Young Scientist Award from the American Heart Association. Prof. Biton then completed an advanced fellowship in interventional electrophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University, specializing in complex arrhythmia treatment. In 2018, he joined the Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem, where he leads advanced interventional treatments for cardiac arrhythmias and serves as the Head of the Cardiology Inpatient Unit. As Head of the Cardiology Inpatient Unit, he is responsible for overseeing the cardiology inpatient services and for the care of complex patients together with a multidisciplinary medical team. Prof. Biton has handled some of Israel’s most complex cases, including the treatment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
International Academic and Professional Work
Prof. Biton served as a temporary editorial board member for the esteemed cardiology journal Circulation, where he earned the Gold Reviewer Award for his exceptional contributions. He has authored numerous articles in leading scientific journals and is a sought-after speaker at international conferences on arrhythmia and sudden death prevention.
He is a recognized authority on arrhythmia and sudden death, frequently presenting to the Health Committee of the Israeli Knesset. Additionally, he serves on the organizing committee of the prestigious Innovation in cardiovascular interventions (ICI) conference.
Prof. Biton is a faculty member at both the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Rochester in New York, reflecting his exceptional academic and clinical achievements.
