About Prof. Michael Kinori

Prof. Michael Kinori is a pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus specialist and the head of the Pediatric Ophthalmology unit in Sourasky Tel Aviv Medical Center. Prof. Kinori treats amblyopia (lazy eye), slowing the progression of myopia (short-sightedness) and strabismus in children and adults including strabismus surgery, allergic conjunctivitis and blocked tear ducts in children.

Prof. Kinori graduated magna cum laude from Tel Aviv University and was frequently on the Dean’s List. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Goldschleger Eye Institute at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel HaShomer. He then pursued a two-year fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the Shiley Eye Institute, UCSD in San Diego, U.S., followed by a one-year fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Northwestern University, Chicago, U.S.

Previously, Prof. Kinori was the head of Children’s Eye Health Center in Sheba Medical Center and the pediatric ophthalmology unit in Assuta Ashdod Hospital. He was a member of the “Talpiot” project for medical leadership at Sheba Tel HaShomer Hospital.

Since 2020, Prof. Kinori is a member of the National Examinations Committee in the field of Ophthalmology, and since 2023, he serves as the chairman of the Examinations Committee for Ophthalmology Residents. Additionally, he was responsible for the Orthoptist training course on behalf of the Israeli Ophthalmology Association from 2023 to 2026.

Prof. Kinori combines clinical work with academic research, having published more than 70 articles in global ophthalmology literature. He also serves as a reviewer for leading pediatric ophthalmology journals and instructs medical students in their dissertations.

In his military reserves service, he acts as an ophthalmologist for aircrew aptitude tests.
