About Yehuda Abeles, Law Office and Rabbinical Advocate
Yehuda Abeles, Law Office and Rabbinical Advocate, is a boutique firm dedicated exclusively to family law. Established in 2016 by Adv. Abeles, the firm views family cases not merely as legal disputes over money or property, but as matters of the soul arising in the most complex moments of family life. Yehuda is a graduate of the ultra-Orthodox Yeshiva “Hazon Nahum,” later completing law studies with distinction at the ultra-Orthodox campus of Kiryat Ono Academic College. He also trained as a Rabbinical Advocate at the Y.N.R Institute and was certified by the Rabbinical Courts administration. He completed his internship at the law office of Yehoshua Shwartz.
Deep understanding of Rabbinical Courts combined with civil law expertise
Adv. Abeles holds dual professional roles as both a lawyer and a Rabbinical Advocate. This combination provides clients with a critical advantage: in-depth knowledge of the “DNA” of the Rabbinical Courts and Jewish law, alongside strong civil law proficiency in family courts. While many lawyers lack this niche, Adv. Abeles navigates both arenas skillfully, building strategies that leverage the strengths of each, offering holistic representation under one roof. This also reduces costs and coordination time for clients.
Areas of Specialization
The firm handles a broad spectrum of family law matters, including: divorce, custody, alimony, ketubah, property division, reconciliation, visitation arrangements, wills, and inheritances. Services include:
• Representation in Courts: Full representation in Rabbinical Courts and Family Courts at first instance and appeal.
• Halachic Arguments: Drafting halachic arguments and providing halachic opinions for attorneys.
• Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements: Drafting agreements before and after marriage, as well as divorce settlements.
Client-Centered Approach
Adv. Abeles emphasizes high availability and personal guidance, recognizing the emotional challenges in family proceedings, including child non-return or parental alienation. The firm is committed to being present for clients at all times, providing personal, tailored advice, attentive service, and full confidentiality.
Prominent Cases and Legal Achievements
Overturning Welfare Report Recommendation – Represented a senior public-sector woman in a custody case. The Supreme Rabbinical Court ruled in favor of the mother’s professional advancement, overturning the lower court’s decision and welfare report, establishing a precedent supporting women’s right to professional progress even when contrary to professional recommendations.
Inheritance Precedent – Represented children from a first marriage in a complex inheritance case. The Supreme Rabbinical Court approved a compromise that protected the rights of the biological children while granting the second wife a life estate only, safeguarding the children’s inheritance.
Children’s Education Authority – Challenged jurisdiction in a case involving relocation and educational arrangements. The Supreme Rabbinical Court confirmed that the Rabbinical Court does not have authority over education when it was not addressed in the original custody case, setting a future precedent on the limits of Rabbinical Court jurisdiction versus Family Court.
Representation Across Sectors; Ultra-Orthodox Community Expertise
With extensive experience as a Rabbinical Advocate, Adv. Abeles provides professional, efficient, and sensitive representation. The firm serves clients across all sectors-secular, religious, and ultra-Orthodox-including Rebbes, Rabbis, and public figures in sensitive cases. Adv. Abeles also serves on the Rabbinical Courts Committee and the Family Committee of the Israel Bar Association.
