The Law Firm of Gabriel Reubinoff is one of Israel’s elite tort and insurance law firms. The firm was founded in the 1940s by the Adv. Asher Lewitski (dec.) in partnerships with the Adv. Max Seligman (dec.). From 1960 to 2011, the firm was headed by Adv. Gabriel Reubinoff (dec.) and it is currently headed by Adv. Yuval Reubinoff. Over the years, the firm has been involved as a representor (of both plaintiffs and defendants) in every major tort event in Israel, such as the disasters of Arad, Maccabiah Bridge, Versailles Events Venue, the extermination tragedy, the elevator disaster, the Carmel Fire and more and more. The firm has two branches, in Jerusalem and in Tel Aviv, and it is distinct in its comprehensive expertise and in the tremendous knowledge and experience that it has accumulated over the years in all types of insurance and torts in Israel – bodily harm, floods, property, fire, disasters etc.

Alongside with the representation of some of Israel’s leading insurance companies, and private plaintiffs, in 2009 the firm was also chosen to represent the State of Israel in the insurance and tort field in the framework of a public tender for external lawyers which was published by the State. The firm won this public tender twice and it continues to represent the state to this very day. In addition, in 2016, the firm won a public tender that was published by the Karnit corporation for representing the corporation in the district courts all across Israel.

In the course of its dozens of years of operations, the firm provided personal, high-quality and professional service for all of its clients, with the aim of achieving the best legal results for them. During these years, the firm established its position as a leading firm in the legal representation of some of Israel’s largest insurance companies alongside with the representation of other business companies in the framework of civil litigation proceedings and ongoing legal counsel. The firm’s clientele currently includes some of Israel’s leading insurance corporations, and consequently the firm represents numerous local authorities in the insurance field, including the municipalities of Tel Aviv, Haifa and Be’er Sheva. The firm also represents the Gihon Corporation and many other institutions.

Practice Areas

The firm has vast reputation in insurance and tort, including in elementary insurance, professional liability insurance, third party damages, employer liabilities, road accidents, medical malpractice, D&O insurance and life insurance. Among other cases, the firm has handled some of the largest tort claims that have been managed in Israel, including the casualties of the Arad Disaster, the Maccabiah Bridge Disaster, the Ayalon Floods, the Air Pollution Claim in the area of Ramat Hovav, the January 2020 floods in Tel Aviv, the Elevator Disaster (as the representor of the Tel Aviv Municipality and the Ayalon Insurance Company), the Zafit Strem Disaster (as the representor of the insurance company Migdal), and more. The firm represents clients in these fields in courts of all levels including the Supreme Court.

Representation of Plaintiff in Tort Flagship Cases

The firm represents plaintiffs in some of Israel most publicized tort cases, including the Versailles Disaster Case, the Extermination Disaster Case and more. In order to optimally represent the plaintiffs who are represented by the firm, it established a claims department, which is led by Adv. Aviv Sadeh. This department provides complete legal representation to plaintiffs in matters of road accidents, liability claims (body and property), professional negligence and medical malpractice. This department also filed several class actions in the past few years, in the fields of consumerism and communication. It should be noted that the lawyers in the claims department work with full separation from the firm’s lawyers who represent defendants.

An Accelerated Growth Momentum

Over the past few years, the firm has been in an accelerated growth momentum, which is expressed by an increase of the firm’s institutions clientele and also by a significant increase in manpower. Currently, the firm includes more than 20 lawyers who specialize in insurance and tort. The intensive development reinforced the firm’s branch in Tel Aviv and led to an increase in the number of lawyers who are employed in it. In fact, the two branches – Jerusalem and Tel Aviv – currently work jointly and integratively, in order to provide the most efficient and best management of the clients’ cases.

Adv. Yuval Reubinoff, Senior Partner

Adv. Reubinoff litigates in commercial law, insurance and tort cases. Over the years, he has been involved in several legal landmarks in Israel’s insurance and tort field, including the lawsuits of the victims of the Arad Disaster, the Maccabiah Bridge, the floods of the streams Ayalon and Yarkon, the collapse of the roof in the Mekif Vav School in Be’er Sheva and the Versailles Disaster. By education, he has an LL.B. from the Hebrew University and has been a member of the Israel Bar Association since 1991.

Adv. Chayim Mayer, Partner

Adv. Mayer specializes in insurance law and litigation with an emphasis on professional responsibility and liability of engineers, architects, local authorities, lawyers etc. He has been representing local authorities and insurance companies, association and private clients, and also he also practices real estate law. By education, he has an LL.B. from the Hebrew University and has been a member of the Israel Bar Association since 1992.

Adv. Amitai Yechieli, Partner

Adv. Yechieli specializes in insurance and tort litigation and heads the firm’s team in its Jerusalem Office. As the head of the Jerusalem Office staff he is responsible, inter alia, for hiring and accompanying young lawyers and interns in the firm. By education, he has an LL.B. from the Hebrew University and has been a member of the Israel Bar Association since 2003.
