The Sorin Group is leading the field of Urban Renewal. The group specializes in planning, entrepreneurship, and construction of National Outline Plan 38 projects, demolition and rebuilding in addition to fortifying existing buildings and adding space and apartments to them, all in premium locations in the Carmel in Haifa.
The architect Simona Sorin, graduate of Technion’s Architecture and Urban Planning studies, planned, initiated and built many homes in Haifa as part of collective building, arranged purchase groups, and initiated individual residential buildings for 40 years. Architect Sorin was in charge of many quality projects that were inhabited with success and satisfaction.
In the 1990’s architect Sorin joined the late architect Emmanuel Metz. Together, they formed the company “Sorin-Metz Contractors Ltd.”, who built many high-quality homes in Haifa.
During the days after the legislation of the National Outline Plan 38, architect Sorin understood the potential latent in this plan, as an efficient tool to start a process of renewing, strengthening and improving old building structures that have gotten old.
Architect Sorin believes that the rights, according to National Outline Plan 38, are the first “gift” the country has offered to its citizens to relieve itself from the responsibility of earthquake damages and help with solving the problem of the lack of secure rooms in residential buildings, as an important social solution. Implementing this law is a significant economic advantage, in addition to it being lifesaving. Because of her vast experience in managing collective building projects, architect Sorin began specializing in the field of Urban Renewal and since then has managed many projects in this field.
The Sorin group has initiated and built many projects of strengthening, demolishing and rebuilding of buildings in “prime location” areas in Haifa, projects that are well known in the city for their exquisite designs as architectural icons in the urban surroundings.
The Sorin group has finished and delivered dozens of housing units as part of National Outline Plan 38, and nowadays operates in many National Outline Plan 38 projects, some of them in advanced stages of building, some in licensing phase towards getting building permits and some that are still in the planning stage. The group is in the process of checking more locations in Haifa, fit for an Urban Renewal project. Urban Renewal projects being managed and operated by architect Sorin are characterized by high standard, efficient planning and design that aspires to become integrated with the existing surroundings and characteristics of the city of Haifa.
