What is the most significant action that you have recently led?
As chairman of YSB Group, I understood that our main engine of growth can be operations outside Israel. In recent months we have been focusing no small amount of attention and resources in order to succeed abroad in areas of activity that we have defined for ourselves. We have managed to identify the first buds of success just recently and we believe that we have identified real ability here for the Group's business development.
What are the significant strengths of the Group in your eyes?
Yaacobi Group is unique today in its ability to deliver orders of the most advance systems that exist all of which communicate with each other. Ultimately, the companies of Yaacobi Group know how to deliver, above and beyond building systems, management and comprehensive control capabilities so that on the same screen and with the same eye everyone can be seen whether they are in contact between them and between themselves.
What are the main measures recently implemented that will lead to the strengthening of the Group in the coming years?
In the past two years I have looked for an engine of growth and new profits for the Group beyond the natural growth that we already have. After examining the matter, we decided in the Yaacobi Group to set up a new field of activity in ecology. Since, we have jointly stablished with the Teco Group, Green Net Waste Recycling and Treatment – a company which is building the first and most advanced installation of its kind in the country that will operate the sorting and handling of Jerusalem's municipal garbage. In the same line of activity, we have raised the level of our holdings in this joint venture and we are already preparing the second level of the installation which will include a plant for biodegrading organic garbage and producing electricity and energy from it.
What advice would you offer to a young manager who is starting out?
Firstly build a vision for yourself. Then choose a winning team, which is skilled, trustworthy and loyal. Stick by your beliefs and the strength of your business. Know not to be too set in your ways and to be flexible in your aims. And when success comes – know how to support your business partners.
What is important to remember even in difficult times?
In difficult times, it is worth remembering that it is hard for everyone. For employees, for partners, customers, and suppliers. In these periods it is easy to see who is struggling and who rises above the rest. And together with all the difficulties breaking out – it is important to remain even then – a caring person.
