About SAP Israel R&D Center
SAP’s R&D Center in Israel is one of the prominent, innovative and strategic development centers for SAP worldwide, employing approximately 1,000 people across two sites – Ra’anana and Tel Aviv. The center plays a significant role in SAP’s global technological leadership, contributing substantially to the development and innovation of breakthrough technologies and core products. It consistently ranks as one of the top companies to work for in Israel, and is regularly recognized for its social and community involvement. Globally, SAP is also included every year on leading employer lists in categories such as innovation, diversity and inclusion, support for parents, social initiatives, and more.
Leading the Multicloud, Business AI, Privacy and User Experience Arenas
The SAP R&D Center in Israel helps redefine the concept of Business AI for enterprise organizations. Its development teams lead SAP’s efforts in the areas of multicloud and the company’s cloud platform, as well as user identity management, user privacy, personalization, and user experience. The center’s development teams are responsible for developing some of the company’s main products, including SAP Business Technology Platform, Business Data Cloud (BDC), SAP Build and SAP Customer Data Platform (CDP). They harness cutting-edge technologies such as deep learning and GenAI, and play a central role in developing many of the core products in SAP’s portfolio.
Acquisition of Leading Israeli Startups
The development center is built on the acquisitions of 12 leading Israeli startups, the last of which is WalkMe, which was acquired in 2024, and is SAP’s most significant investment in Israel to date. All these now comprise a winning team of talents who continue to innovate, develop, and create excellence in high-quality and innovative delivery to the benefit of the company’s customers, including some of the largest and best-known brands in the world.
Development Goes Beyond Technology
SAP recognizes its employees as its most valuable resource. Accordingly, the company prioritizes supporting and empowering them - both in routine times and in emergencies, and across both professional and personal development.
To achieve this, SAP offers employees a comprehensive suite of development opportunities, benefits, and programs.
These include diverse growth tracks and internal mobility options, as well as work-life balance with hybrid work arrangements.
Additionally, SAP boasts a groundbreaking platform: a personalized, digital benefits wallet app offering smart and flexible benefit choices. This app complements a comprehensive benefits package that includes a surrogacy grant, private health insurance, dental insurance, and more.
Leveraging Technology to Create Social Impact
SAP’s products impact hundreds of millions globally, driving significant positive change. Leveraging its extensive reach, SAP actively supports non-profit organizations and NGOs worldwide, including those in Israel. Through environmental and community initiatives, SAP contributes to a better-functioning world.
Beyond regular donations, hackathons, and employee contributions, SAP’s Israeli development center fosters collaboration with numerous NGOs. A prime example is their longstanding partnership with Beit Izi Shapiro, a non-profit empowering children and adults with disabilities. Through this collaboration, SAP developers created five cutting-edge learning apps tailored to the organization’s goals and the individual needs of its users.
During the war, SAP significantly and continuously contributed directly to NGOs in need. The company also encouraged and enabled employee participation in a wide range of volunteer activities—including blood donations, agricultural work, food and clothing distribution, a performance by SAP’s in-house band for evacuees in hotels, and online or in-person educational support for middle and high school students. SAP also maintains continuous contact and coordination with the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, providing assistance and donations as needed.
Recognizing the evolving needs, SAP established a dedicated digital volunteering platform, allowing employees to contribute based on their skills and preferences. In addition to SAP’s substantial efforts in Israel, SAP Global donated over 1 million shekels directly to Magen David Adom (MDA) to support humanitarian aid efforts.
