Avia Stein Kurland, a veteran lawyer with extensive experience and expertise in litigation, mediation, and collaborative divorce, in all courts of law (including Family and Rabbinical Courts). Among the firm’s mediated disputes are family disputes – divorce, custody, alimony, ketubah, financial agreements, co-parenting, division of assets, co-habitation agreements, etc.; family estate disputes – estates, wills, and property division; guardianship disputes – lasting power of attorney; LGBTQ family disputes; defamation cases; attorney-client relations – including fee and contract disputes; and contractual disputes.
One of the first lawyers in Israel to be certified in Collaborative Divorce Practice.
Adv. Stein Kurland regularly lectures on mediation, collaborative divorce, family law, and inheritance in conferences, training courses, and seminars for the Bar Association, WIZO, ICPAS, and various organizations. She also lectures to professionals through various programs and organizations including WIZO, ICPAS, The Shinui Institute, YNR, and more.

She serves as (Co.) Chair of the “Israeli Organization for Collaborative Divorce” (as one of its founders), one of the founders of the “Haskamot” Center, a former active member of “Adler – Collaborative Divorce,” a member of Rosh HaAyin Municipality’s Collaborative Divorce Group, and the founder of Petah Tikva Municipality’s Mediation Center. She actively contributes to advancing dispute resolution in Israel, including through legislation, Knesset committees, and the Bar Association.
Community Involvement: Adv. Stein Kurland remains involved with the community. She regularly volunteered for WIZO between 2004-2024, playing a central role in establishing its national mediation network. She serves as the (Co.) Chairwoman of the Bar Association Central District’s Dispute Resolution Committee. Until 2006, she was Legal Advisor for EITAN – The Israeli Association for Rare Syndromes, where she established and developed the legal department. During the “Swords of Iron” war, she also participated in mediation for reservist families through the “Israel’s Mediators” organization.
Courses and Certifications: She received certifications from a variety of professional training programs and seminars in her areas of expertise. These include Mediation for LGBTQ families from the LGBTQ Association, a guided practicum in small claims mediation by the Israel Bar Association, a mediation course from the Israeli Center for Negotiation and Mediation (ICNM), and a family mediation program at the National Institute for Mediation. She also holds international certification from IACP for Collaborative Divorce, advanced training for interdisciplinary teamwork in collaborative mediation from the Israel Bar Association, advanced training for collaborative divorce from the Peaceful Divorce Association, and advanced international certification to practice collaborative divorce.
She holds an LL.B. from Reichman University and a BSW in Social Work from Tel Aviv University, and is certified by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
Most of the firm’s handled disputes are resolved through amicable settlements approved by the court.
